FOR SALE: HIGH LIFE ACROSS THE STREET OF THE KING’S

October 2, 2008

Yes, that’s right. At the top left of the flight photo above, you can see Their Majesties’ gatehouse to the King and Queen’s privately owned Royal Lodge. The house for sale is located in the middle of the lower part of the photo at the end of a private street at Voksenlia, a hilly area in Holmenkollen in Oslo, an exclusive part of town which mainly consists of villas.

Built in a classic style in 2006 as a modern home. With an asking price at $2.5 million (14.750.000,- NOK) at 5,200-square-feet with living rooms, dining room, 4-5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a gym. Also it features a double garage with direct entrance to the house. The closeness to nature is supported by several balconies and a large terrace.

The immediate environment is great for hiking and skiing with trails starting literally from your doorstep, but also sightseeing. As you can see below, with the house in the middle of the photo, when the tourists has been to the famous ski jump they come up to Kragstøtten (Statue of Krag) for the best view of the forest, fjord and lake before going back to the city centre. Definitely a view fit for a King.

THE END OF AN ERA

September 27, 2008
It really is the end of an era. New York has the Statue of Liberty. Paris has the Eiffel Tower. Oslo has, soon to be had, the Holmenkollen ski jump. In about a months time the ski jump will be torn down. The Holmenkollen skiing arena has hosted competitions since 1892. The ski jump has been renovated 18 times, and the current one dates back to 1939. The tower stands as a national and international symbol of skiing after being the heart of Norwegian winter sports in over a 100 years.
